Our goal

Our goal is to inform players and the public about safer gambling, as well as provide treatment resources for problem gambling.

The website operates under the auspices of the National Betting Authority. It is part of the implementation of actions to protect players and the public, especially minors, young adults and vulnerable groups of people, from the harmful consequences of problem gambling. In addition, it is part of the NBA’s Safer Gambling Strategy with the aim of raising awareness and preventing problematic behaviors.

Η Εθνική Αρχή Στοιχημάτων, αναγνωρίζοντας και κατανοώντας τις αρνητικές συνέπειες που επιφέρει ο εθισμός στο στοίχημα και τα τυχερά παιχνίδια στην κοινωνία και ιδιαίτερα στους νέους και τις ευάλωτες ομάδες πληθυσμού, προχώρησε στην ανάπτυξη και διεκπαιρέωση συγκεκριμένης στρατηγικής για την πρόληψη, αντιμετώπιση και καταπολέμηση των εξαρτητικών συμπεριφορών και της παθολογικής ενασχόλησης με το στοίχημα και τα τυχερά παιχνίδια.

We are committed to promoting a safer gambling environment, helping to prevent problem gambling, and offering guidance to those affected by gambling-related harms. Through awareness, prevention, and targeted support, we strive to foster a culture of informed and mindful gambling behavior. The key objectives of the website are:

Who we are

Η Εθνική Αρχή Στοιχημάτων αποτελεί ανεξάρτητη διοικητική Αρχή με οικονομική ανεξαρτησία και αυτοτέλεια, η οποία συστάθηκε το 2012 με την ψήφιση του Περί Στοιχημάτων Νόμου 106(Ι)/2012 και διέπεται από τον περί Στοιχημάτων Νόμο του 2019 (Ν.37(Ι)2019).

The Authority’s main responsibilities are the regulation, supervision, and monitoring of the betting activity in the Republic of Cyprus. Among its main responsibilities are the issuing of Class A (land-based betting) and Class B (online betting) licenses to bookmakers and authorized agents, carrying out onsite inspections, supervising licensees, as well as drafting and issuing Directives that facilitate law implementation. The inspections conducted by the Authority aim to ensure that the betting activity is legal, transparent and fair, complying with the regulations, that the profits are paid to the players, the taxes are paid to the government and the contributions to the Authority, and that the betting activity complies with the legal and regulatory framework. Furthermore, the Authority is responsible for adopting measures for combating money laundering and terrorist financing, as well as for issuing relevant Directives that facilitate the implementation of the law and measures. Additionally, the Authority is responsible for the cooperation and discussion with various bodies, governmental departments and international institutions on topics related to gambling, such as its participation at the Gaming Regulators European Forum (GREF). Finally, the Authority is responsible for the implementation of preventive measures on the protection of young people and vulnerable groups from gambling addiction. One of the NBA's strategic goals, as set out in its Strategic Plan 2024-2026 is the protection of the players and the public and has set the following objectives in order to achieve its goals.

Provide support to individuals who are affected by gambling related harm to safeguard public health
Develop effective programs, policies and initiatives that ensure safer gambling
